We will walk through how the eLeaP QMS manages risk from initial hazard identification all the way through to harm and mitigation.

The Four Elements of Risk

The eLeaP QMS organizes risks into four connected elements to help you track how a risk originates and propagates. These relationships are enforced with fully automated traceability.

Hazard: A potential source of harm (e.g., High temperature exposure).
Foreseeable Event: How that hazard could reasonably occur (e.g., An incomplete sterilization cycle).
Hazardous Situation: The actual exposure to the hazard (e.g., Release of unsterilized instruments).
Harm: The actual negative outcome (e.g., Patient injury, system failure, or regulatory impact).

The Risk Lifecycle

As harms move through the system, they follow a defined lifecycle essential for audits, post-market surveillance, and continuous improvement:

Identification: Pinpointing the risk.
Evaluation: Assessing the severity and probability.
Control: Implementing mitigation strategies.
Monitoring: Ongoing oversight of risk levels.
Obsolescence: Retiring risks that are no longer applicable.
